FAQ

Will I be able to see cars on both sides of the s/f straight?
No.  The view distances in GPL are not "line of sight" but instead relative to the distance along the circuit.  So the view distance would have to be 4km+ to see cars on both sides of the s/f straight.


Will I be able to see cars on the overpass from the road course or cars below on the road course from the banking?
No.  The same view distance rules apply as for the s/f straight.


Why can't I drive anywhere I want along the s/f straight?
There are technical reasons why you cannot go past the cones which divide the straight that relate to what you would see on the screen while driving.


Why can't I run into the black/white armco near the entrace to the north banking?
The AI do not like objects very close to the edge of the track that can potentially clip wheels.  Thus, the solution was to simply remove the perpendicular edge and make a much softer angle for collision detection.


Are there any plans for a lite or medium spec version?
There may be less resource intensive versions available but the s/f straight includes many large sized objects that may have to be completely eliminated to have a substantial effect on frame rate.


Why isn't the banking concave like in reality?
GPL does not like it when the car drives across multiple traces that determine elevation.


Is the banking supposed to be that bumpy?
Yes.  In real life drivers always complained about the roughness of the banking and great effort was put into trying to replicate this experience.


Will you make any other versions of the Monza circuit like the Junior layout or only the banking per the Race of Two Worlds?
No.  There are others interested in doing the other circuit variants and doing just the oval would present technical challenges GPL might not be able to handle.


Are there any plans to convert Monza10k to (insert sim of choice here)?
No.  The layout for the track was based on the original GPL layout and thus some things wouldn't line up 100% correctly in a conversion to another platform.
